Common Questions
1:1 personalised sound therapy treatments can support the recovery of the following:
Nervous system regulation Sound can activate the parasympathetic (rest-and-digest) response, helping reduce stress, anxiety, and nervous tension.
Muscle relaxation and pain reduction Vibrations can help release muscular holding patterns, reduce perceived pain, and ease physical tension, particularly in the neck, back, and joints.
Arthritis and inflammation By targeting the vagus nerve and parasympathetic activation sound therapy can regulate inflammation via the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway.
Pre and post operative support Calming sounds can lower sympathetic nervous system activity, helping reduce anxiety before and after procedures and supporting a more conducive healing environment and body’s natural healing processes.
Sleep support By encouraging alpha and theta brainwave states, sound therapy can improve relaxation and support deeper, more restorative sleep.
Digestive support Low-frequency sound and rhythmic vibration can stimulate the vagus nerve, which plays a key role in digestion and gut-brain communication.
Circulation and breath Sound often slows and deepens breathing, supporting oxygen exchange, circulation, and heart-rate coherence.
Hormonal and stress response balance Reduced stress can help regulate cortisol levels and support overall endocrine balance.
Immune system support Deep relaxation states are associated with improved immune function and reduced inflammation.
Body awareness and embodiment Sound enhances interoception—the ability to sense internal bodily states—supporting greater physical awareness and connection to the body.
Palliative care support Sound therapy can offer a compassionate, non-invasive way to support comfort, presence, and emotional ease in palliative care
IMPORTANT: For clinical depression or mood disorders, sound therapy should be used alongside professional mental health care, not as a sole treatment. Individuals experiencing severe depression, suicidal thoughts, or psychosis should seek immediate support from a healthcare provider, mental health support line e.g. BeyondBlue - 1300 224 636 or call emergency - 000.
